When: All Day | Sunday | 16th July
Act: Various Bands
Style: Brass Bands / Orchestral
Venue: Barnwell Country Park
The Friends of Barnwell Country Park are hosting another spectacular Brass Band Festival. Starting at around 10:30 a.m. to early evening, Music in the Park is now bigger with five bands each playing a 50 minute selection of music from light to classical. Last year’s Massed Bands performance is back and will close the event. With five bands playing, the sound will be something to remember!
There is a new piece of music especially for the Massed Bands composed by a locally born rising star, Christian Overhead. Help funding the work was generously given by Mr Steve Driver. Its title is Driver’s Walk! Before it’s played, Christian will say what it’s like to compose a piece of music.
The visiting bands are Raunds, Rushden, Stamford, Thrapston and Yarwell & Nassington. There will be activities for all ages: bungee, climbing wall, BBQ, artisan stalls, face painting and plenty of liquid refreshment – with the welcome return of Digfield Ales as well as a Pimms tent to celebrate summer.
In keeping with the Friends’ Access for All and Embracing Our Community, they have adopted this year Peterborough Special Olympics Swimming Group. PSOSG strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people.
