Venue: Market Place, Oundle
Kempston Hammers Sports and Social Club is our home, where we practise, put on our winter and summer shows, where we first met and decided to sing together. We sing happy songs and have the most generous, caring people who give their time and wholewhearted joy to our choir.
Keystone Hammers Choir started in September 2008 with ten members. Irene who helps Maggie run the choir, met a wonderful pianist called Peter and he agreed to play for us. It is an enthusiastic amateur choir and with Peter blind all our music is learnt by ear and occasionally braille! We first performed after only a few months in December 2008. One of our choir members was expecting her baby that month. Lois was born with severe cerebral palsy and we decided to perform a summer concert in July 2009, to raise funds for her and have never stopped!
Our choir has grown to 35 and Peter now has Lynx, his guide dog, who comes to all our bookings and sometimes gets top billing! We really enjoy singing together for others and have performed at garden parties, residential homes, associations, fetes, fundraisers, in Hunstanton Pavilion and flash choired in Bedford!
