Concert starts at 7:45 pm. \nSince our hugely successful guitar concert during the Oundle Fringe Festival 2024 there has been a big demand to repeat the event. We are very pleased to announce that this event will be presented again in 2026 on 12 June\, before the main Oundle Fringe Festival begins later in June. This special fundraiser event will be held in the Westgate Suite at The Talbot Hotel\, Oundle. \nWe have three wonderful\, professional guitar players to entertain you! \nFrom Wisbech we would like to introduce TOM BRYANS who has been playing for decades. Tom says that he has developed a deep love for the music of the British Isles and Ireland and that celebrating those cultures brings him great joy. We would also like to introduce local guitar player ANDREW LOAKE\, a multi-instrumentalist who can boast collaborations with Fairport Convention\, Jethro Tull\, Steeleye Span and many others. Our third professional guitarist is STEVE BEAN\, a regular here at the Oundle Fringe Festival. DESCRIPTION:Paul Galloway started to learn to play the guitar when he was 13. \nAfter graduating from university in Sheffield and drama college in London his guitar skills often came in handy in plays he performed as a professional actor touring the U.K. and Europe. He then taught Speech and Drama in Stamford for many years before retiring and contenting himself with performing regularly in a number of local venues. \nPaul sings self-penned and traditional folk songs amongst an array of wonderful music.

SUMMARY:George Smith and Maggie Baxter - cello/keyboard
DESCRIPTION:Showcase duets from two emerging Cambridge virtuosos\, whose portfolio already includes three albums\, film scores and BBC Radio airtime. \nGeorge Smith is a cellist\, composer and producer. He graduated from Queens’ College\, Cambridge\, during which time he studied cello with Hannah Roberts at the Royal Academy of Music. He previously attended the junior department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama\, where he was a finalist in the 2020 Lutine Prize.  \nHe has taken part in masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Sébastien Van Kuijk and Steven Isserlis\, and has performed at festivals and venues such as Kings Place\, the Lake District Summer Music Festival and Southwell Music Festival\, as well as appearing on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune. Under his project 30 Century Man\, he has released three albums\, performed at Electric Castle in Romania\, and received frequent airplay on BBC radio.  \nAlongside his work as a performer\, George is active as a composer and producer\, creating string arrangements for a wide range of projects and contributing to film scores. He performs on a 1765 cello by Louis Guersan\, kindly lent by the Capron family at Southwick Hall.

SUMMARY:The Down County Boys
DESCRIPTION:Bluegrass at its best! The fabulous Down County Boys have received many accolades. They achieved a No.1 hit in the Country Broadcasters Charts with Come and Sit By the River on the Sit By the River album of 1995. They were broadcast live on air on the UK’s 50th anniversary of the Grand Ol Opry. \nFor five consecutive years during the 1990s they were the British Country Music Association British Bluegrass Band of the Year. They have twice toured Bluegrass festivals in the USA\, played venues in Sweden and over the years have recorded and broadcast for the BBC. \nThe DCBs were formed back in 1964 and over the years have had many band members. The longest reigning member is Peter Parker\, who has been playing the role of baritone vocalist and fiddle player since 1969. Completing the line-up is Mick Cooper on bass\, Chris Cooper playing banjo and Ray Duffy on guitar. The DCBs are proud to have continued playing for so many years\, which must be a longevity record and are thrilled to be part of the Oundle Fringe Festival.

DESCRIPTION:Epigone Jazz Ensemble have a collective musical experience of more than a century\, playing almost every style of music. Their shared love\, however\, is Jazz from all eras. \nThey play Cool Jazz from the 1920s to the 2020s – from American Songbook Standards to Blue Note Classics and from Latin Jazz hits to funky Modern Jazz interpretations of Jazz Classics. \nIn describing their music\, audiences have used adjectives such as jazzy\, swinging\, cool\, funky\, tight\, heavy\, modern\, original\, chill\, refreshing and woof! \nThey say ‘almost everywhere we play\, we are asked to play again\, which must say something about our style of playing and vast repertoire’. They have played regularly at well-known local venues such as Mama Liz’s in Stamford.
