Wilde Night

Wilde Night

Friday 7 July

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” – Oscar Wilde – “Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.”

An Evening of Oscar Wilde Drama

You will probably have heard witty quotes attributed to Oscar Wilde and perhaps know of his plays, some of his writing and a little about his personal life, but who was he? Oscar wrote everything from poetry, children’s stories, a novel and theatrical plays to a shocking response to a hanging he witnessed in prison.  Alongside this, all through his life he wrote letters which give us some access to the man himself.  Everything Oscar Wilde wrote is imbued with his desperation to investigate the human condition in all its forms and show it to us warts and all.

There isn’t time to cover his whole life but during this 40 minute session there will be extracts of his work to give a taste of Oscar Wilde’s works.  You may not learn anything new, but you will enjoy his wit and charm.

An inspiring and entertaining evening session of Oscar Wilde drama.
